Maun Vratha is to keep silence and feel the power of peace. You must be selective about what you speak and the words you choose. To know the purity of words one must learn to be silent first. Mauna Vratha is the ultimate power to improve your speech quality. Bhadra, the 6th month of the Hindu Calendar, is considered auspicious to keep Maun Vratha for 16 days. It is believed that anything can be achieved by observing this silence. Along with the Mauna Vratha, it is suggested to take some time to offer prayers.
As it is written in the Bhagwad Gita Chapter 17/16:
manaḥ-prasādaḥ saumyatvaṁ maunam ātma-vinigrahaḥ
bhāva-sanśhuddhir ity etat tapo mānasam uchyate
The contentment of the mind, amiable temperament, silence, religious meditation, and good thoughts reflect the austerity of the mind. Silence is placed right in the middle of all other human qualities. It allows control over the mind. Once the mind is controlled, you can achieve anything in your life. You will be more empathetic, peaceful and kind towards others and yourself. Also, in Chanakya Niti, 11/9, it is written:
Whoever can remain silent every day for a full year becomes worthy of thousands of years of praise in heaven.
Anger is the biggest enemy of humans. It can easily be controlled through Maun Vratha. Your irritability vanishes and you become a calmer person who instinctively learns to respond gently. Regular practice of being silent changes a lot in a person’s behavior. After 16 days of practice, your speech is well-articulated. Our expert teachers will guide you in a detailed manner. A handbook will also be given to following the rules for observing the fast of silence.
Everything from morning to evening is meticulously planned.

I came looking for weight loss and to find my inner balance. Rome is exactly how I imagined her to be from reading other reviews. She is gentle and calming with an amazing knowledge of yoga, Sanskrit, mantras, yantras, pranayamas etc. But also has a great sense of fun. The setting on the edge of the forest is beautiful and the room very comfortable. Relatively new to yoga and not very flexible, Rome gently guided me and taught me various asanas that would help me the most in easing my back pain etc. I am amazed what I have achieved with Rome’s guidance over 15 days. The food has been delicious and I haven’t craved or wanted for anything. Wonderful satvik dishes were prepared to suit me personally, all fresh and delicious ingredients. Rome also took the time to explain herbs and spices, their health benefits and how to cook with them and taught me how to make Dosa....the most incredible pancakes !! Rome also took me to various sights and temples and all round cared for me like a dear friend. Her daily / nightly spiritual stories from the Sanskrit were fascinating and her explanations enlightening. She also told the meanings of yantras, mantras, spiritual paths, yogi, Brahmin etc all of which were fascinating. The schedule wasn’t as hectic as the website suggests which suited me better. I’m leaving well rested and more centred, with tools to help me continue the practice of yoga, meditation and mantras etc. And yes some weight loss too :-) 4kg. Thank you to Rome and Shanta for making my stay so enjoyable and caring for me so well and Celina for the incredible massages. I’ve had an amazing time and hope to continue my journey [Read less]
