  • Studying yoga lifestyle and the elements of great teaching.
  • Classroom organization and set up.
  • Creating a class plan.
  • Teaching progressively focusing on alignment principles.
  • The basic principles of sequencing.

Introduction of Yogic Anatomy:

The students will learn about-

  • Structure of main organs (Heart, Lungs, Stomach, Liver & Kidney) 
  • Anatomy relevant to yoga 
  • Cues and corrections of Asanas 
  • Body functionality and system of Yoga and skeletal system, brain and nervous system, respiratory system, digestive system, cardiovascular system 
  • Effects of Kriya, Pranayama, Asanas, and Meditation on various disorders
  • Recommended Books: Anatomy of Hatha Yoga by David Coulter

Introduction to Yoga

The introduction to Yoga will cover the following topics-

  • Definition of Yoga, history of yoga, introduction to the yogic text. 
  • Hatha Pradipika and Gherand Samhita will focus on introducing you to the basic philosophy, concepts, and history of yoga. 
  • Yoga Sutras (Preface of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra): Text based on the 8 limbs of Ashtanga Yoga, discover the theory and foundations of yoga as Patanjali of how to make a connection with the body, mind and spirit. 
  • Kriya Yoga a methodology to overcome Pancha Klesha (5 causes of pain and miseries) 
  • Raja yoga and Hatha yoga 
  • Ethical guidelines for the student-teacher relationship 
  • How to behave as a Student and how to behave as a Teacher. 
  • Communication, limits between Teacher and student. 
  • Recommended Books: Patanjali Yoga Sutra, Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Gherand Samhita.

Practicing teaching with RYT/ERYT will be in groups during class hours

Class Observation: A task given by one of our experienced yoga teachers as an inspiration for the class that you will then prepare.

Peer Teaching: Allows you to practice your teaching skills and get constructive feedback from both your Senior Teachers and your peers on your progress. Lead Trainer spends at least 5 to 10 hours with all students on this topic during their practice as a teacher.
